After a two year hiatus St. Brigid’s Photo Exhibition has returned to the Blanchardstown Liabrary. Despite a number of members having to lie low due to Covid, we had a very good attendance at the official launch of the Exhibition. Chairman Paul Redmond opened the event and after welcoming everyone he gave a brief background of the Club and outlined its activity in the greater Blanchardstown area and its ongoing engagement with the local community.
Our guest of honour on the night, James Scobie, who is the current holder of the Press Photographer of the Year award (2nd year running) thanked the Club for inviting him to the opening and wished the Club every success in the future. He said that he was very impressed with the quality of the photographs on display and congratulated all the members who had taken the shots and presented them so well. Paul, on behalf of the Club, presented James with a Cheque for Down Syndrome Ireland.
2020 Photo Exhibition
St Brigid’s Photo Group is celebrating its 20th year as a club in Blanchardstown. We are delighted to announce our 10th Annual Photography Exhibition 2020 and for the first time it is a Virtual Exhibition which contains submissions from Novice, Intermediate and Advanced club members. This exhibition is supported by the Fingal Public Participation Network and is an event in their Social Inclusion week for 2020.
Chairman Paul Redmond is delighted to welcome Tom Honan, a freelance photographer, to launch the exhibition for the club. Tom is a Dublin-based freelance photographer for The Irish Times and The Mail On Sunday and has been named as the Press Photographer of the Year by the Press Photographers Association of Ireland (PPAI) 2019:
